December was full and very enjoyable! From a simple dinner with friends to a large party full of radio enthusiasts...to evenings in the kitchen with copious amounts of butter, sugar and chocolate...to quiet evenings watching movies...maybe even a few pieces of fabric got sewn together...decked the halls with boughs of holly? Sure! We did that too!

Then, after some strategically timed vacation days...I indulged in a couple of long weekends! I used that time to take care of a few things that I had postponed during the year. Mostly stuff around the house...but I did take some time to just relax...

One of those times was this past Friday. I've been getting rid of the new and bringing in the old....lol! After donating plenty of stuff to local thrifts...I decided it was time to purchase some (long admired) vintage pyrex bowls. So hubby and I ventured out to the Antique Mall...

I was originally looking for smaller bowls...ones to be used for breakfast cereal or an evening dessert of ice cream...

Then I found a larger bowl...and admired the design (reminds me of quilting and stitching)...so I bought that one too...knowing eventually I'd find a use for it...

There were lots of fun items there...but I held back on buying too much...after all...I don't want to un-do all that de-cluttering I did during the year! lol!

Most of today was spent in the sewing room. After trimming all those HST's, it was time to cut them in 4's, rotate some pieces and then sew them back together. Now we have 64 of these...

Next will be adding some green to the mix...hopefully that will happen tomorrow. And since the sun will be shining...I just might be able to get a better picture that shows the color of the fabrics a bit better.

It feels good to be ending the year with a sense that I have fit as much as I could fit into this year...a sense of accomplishment and contentment. Yes, there were things I had planned on doing this year that did not happen. But, as they say... everything happens (or doesn't happen) for a reason...and perhaps that is what keeps us dreaming and looking forward to tomorrow...

Wishing you all the best of health, an abundance of happiness and harmony in your hearts and homes!

Happy New Year!

  12. Those Pyrex bowls are great! I used to have a set of mixing bowls that would be over 50 years old now. Trying to remember what happened to them, probably went home with one of the kids when they set up their own apartments. Happy New Year!
