It's A Finish!

Hours of happy dancing going on at this address! The scrap quilt is quilted, bound and washed! Yippee! After having a week of sunshine, it's rain and clouds for the next few days...I was just lucky enough to get some pictures taken between rain showers today...

In the backyard with a few of our Spring blooms (and weeds)...

On the front porch with a little dappling of sunshine...

The back was pieced with four different (yet similar) fabrics...

And for the finish... the blue binding. I machine stitched the binding to the front, turned to the back and hand stitched down...then followed the full perimeter with a machine straight stitch (for added durability)...

I used Quilter's Dream Cotton Select for the batting. First time trying it and I LOVE it! It is dense and machine quilts beautifully! After all of these pictures were taken....it was off to the washing machine for a good rinse...then to the dryer for a fluff. This quilt washed and crinkled like a dream... finished at about 52"x64". It is now in it's place of honor draped over the back of the living room sofa...where it will be used often!

And in case you were wondering what radio fun has been happening... this past weekend, we attended (as vendors and spectators) the Spring Antique Radio Meet at Renninger's in Kutztown, PA. If you have a few minutes to spare.... enjoy this video of the days events...

Well... that pretty much wraps it up for now... I did take a few minutes today to peruse the stash and see what would be the next project... decisions, decisions... :-)

Until next time...stay healthy and keep on smiling!

  1. What a great scrap buster finish. I actually recognize a few of the Browns you used! I guess we'll have to wait and see what you decide to tackle next.

  7. Congrats on a warm and cozy finish! It is a wonderful scrap quilt. I really liked your idea about stitching around a finished binding. For quilts that will get a lot of use, that would be helpful.

I enjoyed watching the antique radio swap meet. I love old radios. They were made to last.

I just got back my internet yesterday so I'm trying to visit my blogger friends and i'm way behind.
    Have a great weekend.
