Hooking and Stuff

After months of thinking (and even dreaming about it)... I finally picked up the hook again! I was blog hopping one morning and found a pattern called "Antique Coverlet" from The Old Tattered Flag. A simple design that caught my eye and would not let go. I went back and forth as to what color way I would use... and after I discovered that my first color choice was not in my stash... I picked from what I did have. So, it's a pumpkin-spice-burgundy main design with a beige background this time around... I'm having so much fun hooking this I may hook a second!

Those of you that follow my blog probably remember me promising a giveaway for some time now. Once again, I spent too much time thinking about what to include... should I break it up into multiple wins or heap it all into one... blah... blah... blah... sooooooo.... without any further delay... I've decided to put it all into one box!
Included in this giveaway will be seven 500 yd spools of Thimbleberries cotton 50wt quilting thread... a Country Living book titled "Simple Country Wisdom"... another Country Living book titled "Crafting A Business"... the cross stitch chart for the Stacy Nash "Merry Christmas Pinkeep" that I completed last month... and a generous sized piece of cotton dark red velvet. All to one lucky winner!

The guidelines are as follows: Leave a comment on this post that finishes one of these sentences... "I am currently stitching/quilting/hooking on..." or "I am really looking forward to starting..." Though not necessary to win... being a follower of my silly blog would be appreciated... :-)

Winner will be announced here on Thursday, February the 28th... so come back for a visit then and check to see who won!

Until next time... stay healthy & keep on smiling!

  1. I for one would love to enter your wonderful and generous giveaway! I am currently sewing the (darn) binding on a simple hooked mat, designed by me. I love to hook, I love the finished product, but hate the binding aspect...Love the colors in your latest hooking project, they compliment one another nicely. Sending greetings from snowy Maine, Julie.

  2. Sharon ~
What a great rug you are working on. Please keep us posted on your progress.
I am currently...sewing the binding on a belated Christmas hooked rug. Yesterday I finished the hooking on a Maria Barton sheep and today I finished the stitching on a small cross stitch sampler designed by Lee of Falling Start Primitives. I should be ~ ~ ~ binding rugs!!! I think I have 5 that need it. UGH! I'm like Julie ~ I loathe the binding. I wish the binding fairy would come visit me. Oh, and the fairy that truly finishes cross stitch samplers, too.
Great give-away but I will sit it out. The only thing I'd probably make use of is the Stacy Nash pattern, so let someone win who will use more of those great goodies.
    Hugs :)

  3. Sharon...I love your rug! The color choice is perfect and your hooking loooks really good!! It's tough when we have so many hobbies...cross stitching, quilting, needle punching and hooking...but sometimes you just have to make a decision and do it! I get stuck between hooking and stitching..I just wish I had more free time to them both! The Olde Tattered Flag has really, really nice designs!

  4. Hi Sharon,
I have eyed that same pattern! LOVE your color choices! Right now I am working on the Mr. Chill that is a commissioned piece.. almost done hooking then... the binding! Oh that durn binding... if Lauren finds a way to connect with the binding fairy I hope she'll let us all know what it is! LOL!
Your give-away goodies are awesome! I am also in awe of how many finishes you get done! So satisfying to get the finished pile higher than the UFO's!!

  5. Okay since it sounds like a fun giveaway filled with lots of things I would love to win. I am hooking and giant whale by Polly Minick. Giant-Whale-Rug. I am trying to finish up my Valentine patterns that I have been working on what seems like forever. I am ready to finish them and move onto spring. I have a Blackbird pattern that I got two years ago for spring, I would like to do that.
Thank you I love that rug you are working on.

  6. Sharon, Awesome pattern you are hooking and your color choices are wonderful. I can't wait to see the finished rug. I am currently stitching on a penny rug for Ginger and my adventure in Sept. Also have a hit'n'miss rug on the frame. What great things for a giveaway! Enjoy your week...Blessings

  7. I love your color choices. I'm currently hooking sheep - lots of sheep. I'm working towards hooking a herd!

  8. I have never seen that thread before, do you use it for machine quilting?

  9. Love the wool you are using in your rug!! Love that design too!

  10. Ooooh, what a lovely rug! I, too have had the inclination to pick up a hook...but alas, I have not yet completed that daunting task. A bit of approach-avoidance behaviour on my part surely.
I shall look forward to admiring your progress, and feel certain that the finish will be ever so splendid!
    Happy week to you...

  11. I am currently working on hooking a chocolate and white bunny with pennies in the background

  12. Oh you are hooking again!!!! GOODIE!!! Your rug is off to a fabulous start too!

Your giveaway treats look awesome! I would love to be the winner, but know everyone else here wants that too. lol

I'm currently hooking, stitching, sewing, and painting everything! bah ha ha ha You know me, always too many irons in the fire. We are expecting to be snowed in again this week. So, as if I don't have anything else to do, I'm going to paint & decorate the corner of my basement that houses my weaving loom. *GRINS!!!*

  13. Hi Sharon,

Hmm, is there a limit on the number of projects you want to hear about? Haha! I am binding a rug at the moment. I don't have any cross-stitch going at the moment, but would LOVE to do the Stacy Nash pattern you are giving away.

Your rug hooking is looking good - I love the colors! ~Ann

  14. I am currently hooking a row rug - only three more rows to go before I start a new project!

  15. Wow ...that's going to be a gorgeous rug! Love the colors you picked! I am currently (still) working on Karen Kahle's Antique Lion and have Jill Peterson's Welcome Cats waiting in the wings.

  16. I am currently hooking on a rug in honor of my black lab, Oni, whom we lost on Dec 4. He was 15 and was my world. The first thing I wanted to do was hook a rug of him. It just brings me comfort. I miss him sooo much, this has been a really hard time for me. He and I had such a tight bond, I was with him 24/7 and he never left my side. I still can't believe I'll never see that funny little face looking at me. I love you Oni. oxoxox

  17. I really love that rug pattern and the colors you chose. I'm currently wishing that i could find my hooking Mojo but work and circumstances seems to get in the way.
Right now, I'm in Ottawa waiting for James little baby brother to make his appearance.
    Take care,

  18. I am currently working on a cottage quilt. I am taking to my friend in Denmark when I go to visit her this summer. I am so excited to make a quilt for her. Her friendship meant a lot to this little country girl when she first came to America as an exchange student. Our friendship has lasted through both time and distance. I am so lucky.

  19. Hi Sharon - thank you so much for the opportunity to enter your giveaway. I am currently working on "Shooters' Hill" by Heartstring Samplery. I love the colors you chose for your rug. Very nice. I believe there may be some rug hooking on the horizon for me. Have a great week.

    Kind regards,
