Settling In

Yes... It has been quite the busy Summer! It seems that while the sun is shining, there is always something fun and interesting to do. Stuff that keeps your mind from watching the clock... and before you know it, Autumn has arrived!

So after all the car shows, radio shows, gardening, heat, humidity and sun worshiping... comes a time when the sun sets lower in the sky... casting a golden glow on trees that are just beginning to speckle with color... a coolness in the evening air that reminds you to bring a light sweater with you before you leave the house... and some mornings, the fog makes you want to stay in bed under the covers... just a little while longer.... mmmmm... Autumn! What a TREAT before the snow starts to fly! lol!

I did manage to quilt and bind my little quilt from Temecula Quilt Co. I wasn't too happy with the batting I bought (kind of thin) so I doubled it up on this piece. Stitched in the ditch and then added the binding. Finished up at 12" square. Once I located the only patch of green grass in the yard (almost drought dry here)... I quickly got a pic before the mosquitoes made a snack of me... lol!

And, since it is Pumpkin Spice everything season... I could not help myself with adding these to my shopping cart during yesterday's grocery run...

Haven't tried either of them yet... I'll post the review soon! :-)

With the cooler temps and today being mostly cloudy, I decided to spend some time in the kitchen... making foods for what I'm going to call "rib stickin' Sunday"... lol! Yep... started with some Zucchini Bread... something a little sweet, but with some nutritional value...

Then moved on to the Chicken Pot Pie!!! Oh my goodness! One of my most favorite cool weather meals! This is the filling simmering... soon I will add a couple of Bisquick biscuits on top and put it into the oven until those biscuits are golden brown! Yum! All of these aromas of cooking really makes a house feel like a home... very comforting! :-)

So, before you think this is turning into a cooking blog... I will say that I did FINALLY make a decision on which sewing machine to purchase! :-) Now I just need to get to the LQS and give her a test drive.... just to be sure! ;-)

Until next time... stay healthy & keep on smiling!

  1. I think we all get distracted in the summer, too nice to be stuck inside. Looks like you are getting into the fall mood, I tend to cook more when it cools down.

I LOVE that and now I want to make it, even though we still have temps in the 90's here!! I am soooo longing for cooler temps here, but so far it is only a dream!!
