Here comes June!

And it's going to be a hot one! Gee Whiz! I was enjoying actually having a Spring this year... warmer 70's during the day and 40's at night... and then *boom* 95 degrees with high humidity rolled in what seemed like overnight... so, on goes the air conditioning! lol!

Today's (quick) post is just a picture of a couple of stitchy projects... I managed the June Wool Banner (on time). The designs of the banners are by Lily Anna Stitches... but the BOM program is offered through Sew Cherished. I've actually been keeping up with this BOM... whodathunkit?

The little pear next to the banner is a needlepunch called Partridge In A Pear Tree and is a design by Country Stitches. My buddy Pam gifted the pattern to me a couple of months ago... thanks again Pam! Although the pattern called for 3-strand Valdani, I punched it with similar colors of 6-strand DMC. I'm trying ever so diligently to use up the stash I have rather than keep buying special for each project... so far, so good... ;-)

A little bit of embroidery and more "practice, practice, practice" on my ol' Kenmore in my next post...

Until next time... stay healthy and keep on smiling!

Stitching The Stars And Stripes

Some of you are aware that I have not had much luck with accuracy on my 17 year old Kenmore sewing machine. So much so that I was ready to go out and spend big bucks on a new machine designed for quilting. Well... one day I went to a (not so) LQS to sit and play with a few machines to see if new might be the answer. Long story short... even the new ones need some sort of adjusting and getting used to... "practice, practice"... that's what the shop owner said... so, a light bulb went on in my head! Maybe if I made a stronger effort to "practice, practice" on my Kenmore... maybe my piecing would improve (and my purse would stay full)... *grin*... so, I cut me some squares of scrap fabric and practice, practice (and adjust guides) I did! Here is my first "official" pieced quilt on my "old" Kenmore with "new" attitude! lol!

Primitive Gatherings had offered a kit on their website to go along with a free pattern Lisa offered during a Moda blog hop (last year). This uses pre-cut squares of PG's Old Glory Gatherings fabric line. Love it! The fabric is quality stuff and the dyed woolens that came with the kit are gorgeous! Just the right amount of mottling. I think my seams are lining up pretty good too! So... "practice, practice" some more, I'll do... with my old Kenmore! :-)

Another loverly stitch is from Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives! A little while back Nan had offered a kit on her blog for this Civil War Needlebook. I could not email her fast enough to make sure I was able to get a kit sent to me! lol! This really was a relaxing and enjoyable stitch... once you get the main part of it down... finishing up the stitches can be done while enjoying some sunshine and fresh air in the yard... no counting to lose track of... and, Nan included the best rusted pins and a beautiful piece of antique ribbon to accent the inside! Love it! Thanks so much, Nan! :-)

I hope Spring has made it to your area... and that everyone stays safe from the wicked storms in the midwest. It seems each season has it's good and bad. I'm still sneezing and sniffling from allergies (durn pollen)... but, I'll take that over shoveling snow any time!

Until next time... stay healthy & keep on smiling!

Spring 2013 Radio Show

Hey all! Last weekend was the bi-annual radio show and sale at Renninger's in Kutztown, PA... you know we like to make videos so that everyone can visit the show...

I missed Friday's part of the show because our refrigerator pooped out on Wednesday... had to wait until the new one got delivered Friday... but, I was at the show Saturday and enjoyed it very much! Wonderful people, fresh air and beautiful radios! Plenty of flowers and fresh fruits and veggies in the market area too!

Oh boy! Spring is here! Time to get out and enjoy!

Stitching updates soon.... stayed tuned! :-)

Stitching In Sunshine

Spring has finally arrived... so I've been in the yard as often as possible. Whether it is sitting for an hour after work during the week... or digging and cleaning and planting like this past Friday... cool breezes and warm sunshine... sure did make for a pollen overload in the allergy department though... so I've been indoors yesterday and today! lol! I did manage to finish up this months wool banner...

...just in time too as yesterday's mail brought the wool for June's banner... lol! Never at a loss for fun stitching, that's for sure! Quite a few other projects in the works too... some wool, some cotton, some threads...

Until next time... stay healthy and keep on smiling!
