Thank You and Winner!

Thanks so much for the good words and encouragement on my latest hooking project! Having hook in hand again feels wonderful! I did not get time to hook any more on it during the week... but, plan to get a lot more hooked this weekend!

Tomorrow is Quiltfest of NJ! It's a pretty big once a year event that has juried quilts and lessons and vendors!!!! Booths FULL of quilt stuff and sewing machines and long arms and fat quarters and jelly rolls and threads and notions... (and maybe some wool)!!! I already picked out the BIGGEST tote bag from my closet and I'll be first in line tomorrow when the open the doors at 10am! lol!

It sounds like everyone is busy happily stitching and hooking... not too many folks enjoy binding their rugs though... time better spent on hooking another rug, right? :-)

Sooooo, without further delay.... let's all get our hands together for a big round of applause for
patijanes primitives

because she is the winner of this little giveaway here!!!! I've sent an email to let you know... I'll be headed to the post office tomorrow with your goodies! Enjoy!

Wish I had a little something ready to send to everyone that left a comment this time around and took the time to let me know what they were working on... I'm thinking I'm going to have to have another giveaway real soon! :-) Because giveaways are FUN... and there is always something to give...

I'll be back soon with Quiltfest and rug updates...

Until then... stay healthy & keep on smiling!

Hooking and Stuff

After months of thinking (and even dreaming about it)... I finally picked up the hook again! I was blog hopping one morning and found a pattern called "Antique Coverlet" from The Old Tattered Flag. A simple design that caught my eye and would not let go. I went back and forth as to what color way I would use... and after I discovered that my first color choice was not in my stash... I picked from what I did have. So, it's a pumpkin-spice-burgundy main design with a beige background this time around... I'm having so much fun hooking this I may hook a second!

Those of you that follow my blog probably remember me promising a giveaway for some time now. Once again, I spent too much time thinking about what to include... should I break it up into multiple wins or heap it all into one... blah... blah... blah... sooooooo.... without any further delay... I've decided to put it all into one box!
Included in this giveaway will be seven 500 yd spools of Thimbleberries cotton 50wt quilting thread... a Country Living book titled "Simple Country Wisdom"... another Country Living book titled "Crafting A Business"... the cross stitch chart for the Stacy Nash "Merry Christmas Pinkeep" that I completed last month... and a generous sized piece of cotton dark red velvet. All to one lucky winner!

The guidelines are as follows: Leave a comment on this post that finishes one of these sentences... "I am currently stitching/quilting/hooking on..." or "I am really looking forward to starting..." Though not necessary to win... being a follower of my silly blog would be appreciated... :-)

Winner will be announced here on Thursday, February the 28th... so come back for a visit then and check to see who won!

Until next time... stay healthy & keep on smiling!

Some Finishes

We managed to stay on the low end of snow totals from Nemo. For that I am very thankful! We cleared the snow out of our driveway and off our cars yesterday... and it's a quick return to Winter as normal here...

I took advantage of the time spent indoors and finished some cross stitch pieces I had been stitching on over the course of a couple of months now... all have been stuffed with wool snippets...

Peacock Keys
by Primitive Bettys
Stitched on 32 ct natural linen with specified DMC threads,
I added some aged cheese cloth ribbon tied with linen thread
Finished piece measures just under of 8" x 12"

Grey House
by Threadwork Primitives
Stitched on 32 ct natural linen with specified DMC threads
(I may have substituted a different DMC color for the house... I forget)
Backed with the fabric shown in lower right of picture
Finished piece measures just 7" x 4"

The Bittersweet is Blooming
by Primtive Basketcase
Stitched on 32ct natural linen with specified DMC threads
Added some autumn toned Barbara Brackman fabric to frame the
edges with a little bit of color.
Finished piece measures 10" x 7"

Merry Christmas Pinkeep
by Stacy Nash
This was a limited edition kit offered By Stacy Nash late December 2012
It was my first try at using Walnut Crystals for aging a stitchery... and I just love the look of the vintage tinsel garland on the edge (included in kit).
Finished piece measures 9" x 7"

Sorry about the "boring style" pictures.... but, it is cold and snow covered outside.... so I had to improvise with background fabrics and an Ott light indoors... lol

I hope that everyone in the Northeast has managed to stay safe and warm through this northeaster... and hopefully, it will be the last storm for a long time...

Until next time... stay healthy and keep on smiling!

Hello February!

Did it not seem that it was January for entirely too long? Those 4 weeks felt more like 4 months to me... I was busy working and stitching and trying to avoid colds & flu... but, some days it seemed as if January would never leave...

So... Hello to February! The month of Valentines, Hearts, Lace, Roses and Chocolate! Ooooooh yah! Now we're talkin'! I do have some finishes I plan on sharing with you in the next couple of days. Seems the stitching is easy... but, making the stitching into "something" always takes a bit longer...

I do want to give a HUGE Thank You to Valerie over at The Wooden Acorn! She had a rather big, multi part giveaway over at her blog... and I was the lucky winner of the Maggie Bonanomi "With These Hands" Book and a gorgeous Wool Flower Pillow kit!

I embarrassed to say I already had the book (because I LOVE Maggie's style!)... but, when I let Valerie know that, she was gracious enough to let me substitute by picking something from her Etsy store. I found a cute little wool pattern by Front Porch Quilts called Apple Orchard. The completed piece finishes up at 6.5" square! AND, Valerie also sent along some gorgeous Valdani's as a bonus... to help along with the embroidery on the Apple Orchard quilt! SWEET! :-)

Remember... be sure and check back here in a couple of days... for some pictures of stitching finishes... and I've also been putting together some items for a little giveaway... because when I win a giveaway... I enjoy paying it forward! :-)

Until next time... Stay Healthy and Keep on Smiling!
